Program Management
Program Management entails the coordinated planning, organizing, staffing, controlling, and directing of a portfolio of projects in order to achieve clearly defined business objectives. When our clients come to us with the need to execute multiple inter-dependent projects in a similar timeframe, we often recommend that they bundle those projects together and implement such an approach.
Advantages in doing so include:
- Single Point Accountability
- Efficient Utilization of Shared Resources
- Seamless Coordination, Interdependency, and Knowledge Transfer Between Project Teams
- Consistent Cost, Schedule, Safety, and Progress Reporting
- Incentives to Accumulate and Analyze Historical Cost Data
- Measurement of Actual Performance Against Established Benchmarks and Metrics
- Greater Ability to Control Safety
- Lower Total Installed Cost
- Fewer Owner Resources Required to Effectively Manage the Work
Nearly all of our managers are accustomed to leading projects within the umbrella of a Program Management agreement, and our senior level managers have significant experience leading Program Management teams. In some situations, our long-term clients have broadened our responsibilities beyond those of a conventional Program Manager to include the engineering, procurement, and management of both capital and maintenance projects on a facility level.
