An opportunity was identified for potential cost savings in the Isomax unit by conserving heat and reducing emissions. The project replaced 8 heat exchangers with 12 new upgraded alloy heat exchangers, to withstand the new proposed temperatures and pressures.

Flue Gas Scrubber

The refinery required a flue gas scrubber system to meet stringent EPA emissions regulations and avoid potential facility shutdowns. Eichleay was tasked with executing this grassroots environmental compliance project, inheriting a schedule already one year behind. Leveraging its expertise, Eichleay successfully delivered the project on time, ensuring compliance with emission standards while maintaining the refinery’s operational continuity.

Project included installation of environmental compliance systems to reduce particulate, NOx, and SOx emissions: ​

  • (2) KTI SCR units

Since 2007, Eichleay has been a trusted partner, providing SPI administration services at multiple refineries nationwide. At a major client site we played a pivotal role in building the Smart Instrumentation (SI) domain from the ground up, in collaboration with the I/E group. Our team established standards and developed training guides for all users.

Key responsibilities included:

West Coast Refinery SPI Conversion Project

Eichleay successfully converted over 2,400 CAD loop diagrams into SPI format. Our team provided end-to-end support, from upgrading and developing site-standard formats for loop diagrams to managing extensive data imports.

Key achievements included:

  • Delivering critical project documentation such as P&IDs and wiring diagrams
  • Building missing hardware, including J-boxes, marshalling racks, and PLC panels
  • Importing over 10,000 updated instrument specification sheets into the SPI database
  • Managing SPI database upgrades and ensuring seamless integration with local staff during project execution
