SIS Functional Safety Classes

Eichleay Inc. offers the following SIS Functional Safety classes:

  • Functional Safety Engineer Master Classes of TÜV Rhineland Training & Certification Program in the field of SIS. 
  • Functional Safety Technician Master Classes of TÜV Rhineland Training & Certification Program in the field of SIS.
  • Functional Safety Classes for Managers (will be offered soon)
  • Functional Safety Expert Classes (will be offered soon)


The TÜV Rheinland Functional Safety Program is the worldwide extended vocational training program in the area of Functional Safety where knowledge and competencies are approved and where the certificates are issued.

Participants of the certificate training courses will receive, upon attending the course, passing the final Exam successfully and meeting the eligibility requirements, a TÜV Rhineland certificate including a TÜV Rhineland Functional Safety Engineer or Technician ID number.

Why Should I Attend?

IEC 61508 requires that anyone involved in safety lifecycle activities be competent to carry out the activities for which they are accountable.

Terms & Conditions

Cancellation

Eichleay reserves the right to cancel a class or change the class schedule at any time and for any reason. Classes may be subject to a minimum attendance requirement, and a confirmation email will be sent to the Customer two weeks prior to the class scheduled start. 

Should Eichleay cancel or reschedule a class, Eichleay will give the Customer the option to receive a full tuition refund or apply the funds to a future course. There will be no refunds for a cancellation by the Customer.  Course fees can be used for future credit if used within 12 months of the original course starting date.

Warranty

Classes will be provided by a certified TUV Instructor. The Customer must meet all course pre-requisites, attend all classes, and pass the final test to qualify for TUV certification.

Eichleay makes no warranty that the Customer will pass the final test and receive a TUV certificate, nor the Customer’s final proficiency regarding the course topic. 

Make-Up

At Eichleay’s option, the Customer can make-up any missed classes or missed exam in a regularly scheduled upcoming course session up to 90 days after the original course scheduled completion. The Customer can re-test to pass the exam for a $500 fee at one of the regularly scheduled test dates. Should the customer fail the second exam, Course and exam must be taken again.

Limitation of Liability

Eichleay is not responsible for costs (e.g., travel, lost business or time, etc.) incurred by Customer associated with the class.  Eichleay’s total liability is limited to the tuition paid by the Customer, and by paying the tuition, the Customer agrees to these terms and conditions.

California state laws will govern the application of these Terms and Conditions.


FS Engineer (TÜV Rheinland) Program

Cost

The program cost is $2,975 and includes course material (PDF), registration fees, and FS Engineer (TÜV Rheinland) certificate (if requirements are fulfilled and exam passed accordingly). For registration, group training and in‐house training prices, please email SIS@Eichleay.com

Certification Prerequisite:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the field of functional safety.
  • University degree (Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Engineering) or equivalent engineer level responsibilities status certified by employer.
  • Attending the course and successfully passing the Exam.



Note: Persons, who do not meet the business experience criteria may participate in the training and the exam. If they pass the exam successfully the FS Engineer (TÜV Rheinland) certificate will be issued to them when they have achieved 3 years of experience in the area of functional safety.

Course Objective

The main objective is to provide all engineers involved in safety instrumented systems with basic and necessary knowledge about functional safety, based on the leading international functional safety standards IEC 61508 and IEC 61511. The course will provide detailed information and example problems for understanding and mastering the requirements of IEC61508 / IEC61511 functional safety. Engineers attending the course will be qualified for TÜV Rheinland certification upon successfully passing the course exam.

Due to current Covid-19 conditions, course schedules are subject to change based on course interest and current conditions. Till September 2020, will be provided in nine (9) 3-hour live online classes. The examination will be at an Eichleay office as noted in the course schedule. Classes include course material (PDF) and TÜV Rhineland certificate (upon attending all classes and passing the final Examination.

FS Technician (TÜV Rheinland) Program

  • Attending the course and successfully passing the Exam.
